    Update the address in the NMAC online account, then ask the destination motor vehicle office what documents it requires and how quickly the vehicle must be titled and registered.

  2. 02Use the approved channel

    If the state needs NMAC documents, call 1-800-456-6622 or use online chat. Lease customers can download a limited power of attorney under Documents & Statements, then Generate Documents. Original powers of attorney and Connecticut requests go through customer service.

  3. 03Plan for the handoff

    NMAC does not publish one nationwide document turnaround. Start promptly because it warns that a new state may allow only a short registration window before assessing penalties.
