The destination state controls registration and still decides what document it can use and where it must go. The lessor handles the title it holds, and the two paths need to meet before the state can finish the transfer.

Notify Tesla Finance of the new registration and billing address so it can begin the re-registration and title process when required. Confirm first that Tesla Finance, rather than a third-party lessor, is named on the lease.

Use the Financing section of the Tesla app for the direct lease, or call Tesla Finance at 844-837-5285. Tesla's lease page also lists U.S. Bank (800-872-2657), Ally Bank (877-247-2559), Santander Consumer (888-222-4227) and Chase (800-336-6675) for leases held by those lessors, which follow their own instructions.
- 03Plan for the handoff
Tesla does not publish one nationwide re-registration turnaround. Start before the destination deadline and track address notice, required documents, destination filing, and new registration as separate milestones.
