Start with USAA Auto's process

The destination state controls registration and still decides what document it can use and where it must go. The lender handles the title it holds, and the two paths need to meet before the state can finish the transfer.

    Ask the destination titling agency which documents it requires. USAA publishes separate steps for an original title and for a title copy when a borrower moves to a new state.

  2. 02Use the approved channel

    For an original, have the destination titling agency email its title request to usaamail@vitu.com or fax it to 937-481-5143. For a title copy, call a USAA title specialist at 800-531-USAA (8722).

  3. 03Plan for the handoff

    USAA does not publish one nationwide turnaround on this page. Start before the destination deadline and confirm that the agency sent the request before tracking release.
