Can I keep driving on my current license in Michigan?

Renewal grace period while deployed

Michigan residents serving in the Armed Forces on official leave whose license expired while they were on that leave may continue to operate for up to 30 days after that first leave of absence following expiration without renewing. Separately, any Michigan resident who is out of state (not limited to military) and cannot return before their license/ID expires can request a 180-day extension permit online in lieu of an in-person renewal, and vehicle tabs/registration can be renewed online or by mail from out of state (proof of Michigan no-fault insurance required).
