    Title and register the vehicle

    Title and register at an MVD field office with the ownership document, odometer reading, identity, two New Mexico residency proofs, and insurance evidence. The current new-resident page does not publish a general day-count deadline.

    Cancel the Georgia registration before ending its insurance

    After the destination registration is active, cancel the Georgia registration through DRIVES e-Services or the county tag office and save the confirmation. Georgia requires continuous liability coverage while its registration remains active.

    Confirm both records are clean

    Verify that the New Mexico registration and insurance are active, the Georgia registration is closed correctly, and no property-tax, toll, inspection, or renewal notice remains open.
