    Title and register at an MVD field office with the ownership document, odometer reading, identity, two New Mexico residency proofs, and insurance evidence. The current new-resident page does not publish a general day-count deadline.

  8. Close HawaiiAfter the new registration is active

    Notify the Hawaii county vehicle office within 30 days

    After the destination registration is active, write to the Hawaii county finance office that holds the old vehicle record within 30 days of the address change. Include the old and new addresses and keep a copy with the new registration. Ask that county whether it needs any additional step for the old plate or record.

    Confirm both records are clean

    Verify that the New Mexico registration and insurance are active, the Hawaii registration is closed correctly, and no property-tax, toll, inspection, or renewal notice remains open.
