What to do with Arkansas plates after moving to Ohio
The answer can be return, cancel, destroy, recycle, or keep. Follow the reviewed Arkansas instruction only after the Ohio registration and insurance handoff are safe.
Complete the replacement record
Ohio gives new residents 30 days to transfer the vehicle title and registration. Convert the out-of-state title through a county title office before registering at a deputy registrar.
Maintain financial responsibility accepted in Ohio while the former registration remains active and before operating on the Ohio registration.
Update the Arkansas registration mailing address
After the destination registration is active, use Arkansas DFA's Change Your Renewal Address service to update the mailing address on the vehicle registration. Save the confirmation with the new registration so later Arkansas notices do not disappear at the old address.
