What to do with Nevada plates after moving to New Hampshire

The answer can be return, cancel, destroy, recycle, or keep. Follow the reviewed Nevada instruction only after the New Hampshire registration and insurance handoff are safe.

New Hampshire comes first

Complete the replacement record

Register an owned vehicle used in New Hampshire through the resident's town or city within 60 days after establishing domicile or residence.

New Hampshire does not impose a general mandatory auto-insurance requirement on every driver, but financial-responsibility or SR-22 requirements can apply and an uninsured crash can suspend driving privileges. Confirm your own obligation before operating.

Cancel Nevada registration before ending its insurance

After the new registration is active, cancel the Nevada registration through MyDMV and surrender or properly dispose of the Nevada plates. Nevada says to complete registration cancellation before dropping liability insurance.
