Before the moveKeep the old registration and insurance aliveUntil replacement registration is active
Do not cancel the New York policy just because the vehicle crossed a state line. Keep the registration-supported coverage intact until the North Carolina registration is active and the New York closeout rule is satisfied.

Close New YorkDo not cancel New York insurance before surrendering platesAfter the new registration is active
First activate the new registration, then surrender the New York plates and registration, obtain the FS-6T receipt, and only then end New York coverage. Reversing that order can create a registration and driver-license suspension.

Keep the deadlines together
Add only dates you know. Your private link will remember them.
Track the lender or lessor separately
Request sent, record sent, and agency received are different milestones.
Ask the destination motor vehicle office for a written request on its letterhead. Wells Fargo says the office must request the change and must request the original when it is required.
Submit the office request through the Upload Documents area in the auto-loan account, or use the published out-of-state transfer mail or fax channel.
If an electronic title must become paper, Wells Fargo says motor vehicle processing can take at least four to six weeks.
Ask for the exact interstate title process
This message avoids account details. Add them only inside the provider's secure channel.
- Contact the title holder
Use its approved account, phone, mail, fax, or secure upload channel.
- Get the destination request ready
Some states send the request. Others give it to you to forward.
- Complete your authorization
Sign, authenticate, or provide account details only through the approved channel.
- Confirm the title holder sent the record
A submitted request is not the same as a dispatched title or document.
- Confirm the destination received it
Keep the agency receipt, status result, or delivery confirmation.
Close the loop before deleting anything
Keep the actual receipts in your own files. This workspace records only the status.
- Destination insurance is active
Keep proof that the destination agency will accept.
- Destination registration is complete
Keep the registration card, receipt, or online confirmation.
- Old plates or registration are closed correctly
Keep the surrender, cancellation, mailing, or status proof.
- Old insurance ended in the safe order
Do this only after the registration and closeout conditions are satisfied.
Track services separately from official tasks
Saving or completing a private transaction never marks an agency requirement complete.
