Switch car insurance from Colorado to Arkansas

Activate coverage Arkansas will accept before the registration transaction. Do not cancel the Coloradopolicy until the new registration is active and the old record is closed correctly.

    Keep the old record supported

    Keep Colorado registration-supported coverage active while the vehicle is still recorded there.

    Activate Arkansas coverage

    Bring proof of insurance for the registration transaction and keep the policy supporting the prior registration active until that registration is safely closed.

  3. 03
    Complete the destination registration

    Title and register the vehicle at an Arkansas state revenue office within 60 calendar days after becoming a resident.

  4. 04
    Close Colorado

    After the destination registration is active and the Colorado plates are off the vehicle, return regular plates to a Colorado county motor vehicle office or use a recycler that accepts metal license plates. Ask the county before disposing of personalized or qualifying specialty plates, and retain the replacement registration proof.

    End or rewrite the old policy

    Confirm effective dates with both insurers after the old registration is safely closed.
