Switch car insurance from Massachusetts to Arizona

Activate coverage Arizona will accept before the registration transaction. Do not cancel the Massachusettspolicy until the new registration is active and the old record is closed correctly.

    Keep the old record supported

    Keep Massachusetts registration-supported coverage active while the vehicle is still recorded there.

    Activate Arizona coverage

    Put Arizona-acceptable coverage in place before registration and keep the prior policy active until the old registration is safely closed.

    Complete the destination registration

    Arizona says an incoming vehicle must be registered as soon as you become a resident.

    Close Massachusetts

    After the new registration is active, cancel the Massachusetts registration, download the cancellation receipt, and provide it to the insurer before ending the Massachusetts policy. The plates do not go back to RMV; recycle or destroy them after cancellation.

    End or rewrite the old policy

    Confirm effective dates with both insurers after the old registration is safely closed.
