Switch car insurance from Massachusetts to Arkansas

Activate coverage Arkansas will accept before the registration transaction. Do not cancel the Massachusettspolicy until the new registration is active and the old record is closed correctly.

    Keep the old record supported

    Keep Massachusetts registration-supported coverage active while the vehicle is still recorded there.

    Activate Arkansas coverage

    Bring proof of insurance for the registration transaction and keep the policy supporting the prior registration active until that registration is safely closed.

  3. 03
    Complete the destination registration

    Title and register the vehicle at an Arkansas state revenue office within 60 calendar days after becoming a resident.

  4. 04
    Close Massachusetts

    After the new registration is active, cancel the Massachusetts registration, download the cancellation receipt, and provide it to the insurer before ending the Massachusetts policy. The plates do not go back to RMV; recycle or destroy them after cancellation.

    End or rewrite the old policy

    Confirm effective dates with both insurers after the old registration is safely closed.
