Switch car insurance from Mississippi to Oklahoma

Activate coverage Oklahoma will accept before the registration transaction. Do not cancel the Mississippipolicy until the new registration is active and the old record is closed correctly.

    Keep Mississippi registration-supported coverage active while the vehicle is still recorded there.

    Activate Oklahoma coverage

    Bring proof of an Oklahoma insurance policy that meets state requirements.

    Complete the destination registration

    Register the out-of-state vehicle within 30 days after moving to Oklahoma at Service Oklahoma or a participating Licensed Operator.

    Close Mississippi

    After the destination registration is active, contact the Mississippi county Tax Collector to update the address tied to the old tag. Do not count on recovering the unused registration: Mississippi says the credit cannot be used after an out-of-state move and no refund is issued. Keep the new registration and the address-update record together.

    End or rewrite the old policy

    Confirm effective dates with both insurers after the old registration is safely closed.
