Switch car insurance from Nebraska to Arkansas
Activate coverage Arkansas will accept before the registration transaction. Do not cancel the Nebraskapolicy until the new registration is active and the old record is closed correctly.
- 01Keep the old record supported
Keep Nebraska registration-supported coverage active while the vehicle is still recorded there.
- 02Activate Arkansas coverage
Bring proof of insurance for the registration transaction and keep the policy supporting the prior registration active until that registration is safely closed.
- 03Complete the destination registration
Title and register the vehicle at an Arkansas state revenue office within 60 calendar days after becoming a resident.
- 04Close Nebraska
Within 60 days after the vehicle is registered in the destination state, submit the Nebraska registration, plates, validation decals, and a photocopy of the new registration to the county treasurer where the vehicle was registered. Keep delivery or counter proof with the refund record; Nebraska treats out-of-state re-registration as a qualifying change in status.
- 05End or rewrite the old policy
Confirm effective dates with both insurers after the old registration is safely closed.
Check the policy for the new home
Home or renters coverage is a separate optional follow-up. It does not replace destination auto insurance.

NewState Drive keeps the state sequence, official requirements, and cancellation warning visible.
The licensed provider collects driver and vehicle details, explains coverage, returns quotes, and handles binding.
You choose the policy and confirm effective dates. A new policy cannot retroactively fix an earlier lapse.
