Switch car insurance from Pennsylvania to Arkansas

Activate coverage Arkansas will accept before the registration transaction. Do not cancel the Pennsylvaniapolicy until the new registration is active and the old record is closed correctly.

    Keep the old record supported

    Keep Pennsylvania registration-supported coverage active while the vehicle is still recorded there.

    Activate Arkansas coverage

    Bring proof of insurance for the registration transaction and keep the policy supporting the prior registration active until that registration is safely closed.

  3. 03
    Complete the destination registration

    Title and register the vehicle at an Arkansas state revenue office within 60 calendar days after becoming a resident.

  4. 04
    Close Pennsylvania

    After the destination registration is active, send the Pennsylvania plate and registration card to PennDOT's Return Tag Unit and retain delivery proof. Pennsylvania requires insurance on a currently registered vehicle and can suspend the registration after an uncovered lapse.

    End or rewrite the old policy

    Confirm effective dates with both insurers after the old registration is safely closed.
