Switch car insurance from Texas to Arizona

Activate coverage Arizona will accept before the registration transaction. Do not cancel the Texaspolicy until the new registration is active and the old record is closed correctly.

    Keep the old record supported

    Keep Texas registration-supported coverage active while the vehicle is still recorded there.

    Activate Arizona coverage

    Put Arizona-acceptable coverage in place before registration and keep the prior policy active until the old registration is safely closed.

    Complete the destination registration

    Arizona says an incoming vehicle must be registered as soon as you become a resident.

    Close Texas

    After the destination registration and plates are active, remove the Texas plates and the Texas registration sticker from the windshield. If the plates will not be transferred to another eligible Texas vehicle or retained, TxDMV says to deface the front before disposal so they cannot be used fraudulently.

    End or rewrite the old policy

    Confirm effective dates with both insurers after the old registration is safely closed.
