Digital Federal Credit Union (DCU) title transfer: move your financed car to another state
DCU vehicle loan: log in to DCU Digital Banking and open Title Services to ask for a temporary title release. Questions: 800-328-8797. Then match these steps to your new state's title rule below and build the request before the title moves.
Start with Digital Federal Credit Union (DCU)'s process
The destination state controls registration and still decides what document it can use and where it must go. The lender handles the title it holds, and the two paths need to meet before the state can finish the transfer.
- 01Start here
Log in to DCU Digital Banking and open the secure Title Services request for the active vehicle loan. Ask for a temporary title release to accommodate registration after moving to another state.
- 02Use the approved channel
Submit the request through Membership, then Title Services, in DCU Digital Banking. DCU treats the authenticated request like a signed written request. Call 800-328-8797 for an auto-loan or title-service question without putting account details in unsecure email.
- 03Plan for the handoff
DCU does not publish a fixed state-change turnaround. Submit the secure request before the destination deadline and track DCU acceptance, title or document dispatch, destination receipt, and the replacement lien-recorded title separately.

After you build the request notes and handoff checklist below, send the request through the lender's approved channel. You remain in control of every lender and agency submission. Optional paid help prepares the request and destination packet and handles general follow-up, and you still handle account sign-in, authorization, signatures, payments, inspections, and in-person visits.
Where are you in this?
Pick the row that fits. Every link in it is free.
- I still owe on it and I'm moving
- I paid it off and the title or lien release hasn't come
- I already sent the request and nothing happened
Where is the car moving?
Some states want an original title, others accept a copy, lien letter, or registration-only path, and some require the local office to start the request. We will combine Digital Federal Credit Union (DCU)'s move path with the destination state's title rule. No VIN or account number is collected.
Every step above stays free.
If the lender is slow, or the new state keeps rejecting the request
- Supported follow-up through the handoff milestones
- Tracking of title delivery and the state's acknowledgement
- A private case with the final proof check
- You step in for account sign-in, authorizations, signatures, payments, inspections and in-person visits
Keep the lender request and receipt together
Add the two states to keep the request, lender send status, destination receipt, and final proof together.
Keep your place and return later
Track your progress, dates, title requests, and receipts to keep. We will email a private return link.
