Subaru Motors Finance title transfer: move your financed or leased car to another state

Start with the lender's current instructions. Then match them to the new state and build the request before the title moves.

What the lender says

Start with Subaru Motors Finance's process

The destination state controls registration and still decides what document it can use and where it must go. The lender handles the title it holds, and the two paths need to meet before the state can finish the transfer.

  1. 01Start here

Confirm what the destination motor vehicle office needs. Subaru identifies Chase as the bank behind Subaru Motors Finance, so retail customers can match the state request to Chase's current title process while lease customers use the lease number on Subaru's contact page.

  2. 02Use the approved channel

Subaru says Chase owns Subaru Motors Finance auto finance accounts. For a retail account, Chase's title FAQ tells the destination office to send its letter to Chase Auto's fax, (937) 481-5324, or to Chase Auto, PO Box 4420, Wilmington, OH 45177. That Chase page does not name Subaru, so first confirm with Subaru Motors Finance at 800-662-3325, the number Subaru lists for finance agreement questions. For a lease, Subaru lists 800-644-1941 for lease questions.

  3. 03Plan for the handoff

Subaru Motors Finance does not publish one nationwide state-transfer turnaround. Start before the destination deadline and track the state request, provider sending, and agency receipt separately.

NewState Drive is independent and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Subaru Motors Finance. Confirm instructions inside your lender account before sending sensitive information.

After you build the request notes and handoff checklist below, send the request through the lender's approved channel. You remain in control of every lender and agency submission. Optional paid help prepares the request and destination packet and handles general follow-up, and you still handle account sign-in, authorization, signatures, payments, inspections, and in-person visits.

Where is the car moving?

Some states want an original title, others accept a copy, lien letter, or registration-only path, and some require the local office to start the request. We will combine Subaru Motors Finance's move path with the destination state's title rule. No VIN or account number is collected.

Every step above stays free.

If the lender is slow, or the new state keeps rejecting the request

  • Supported follow-up through the handoff milestones
  • Tracking of title delivery and the state's acknowledgement
  • A private case with the final proof check
  • You step in for account sign-in, authorizations, signatures, payments, inspections and in-person visits
