Move an RV or Motorhome to Oklahoma

Title and register a self-propelled motorhome or towable travel trailer within 30 days after establishing Oklahoma residency. Apply for an Oklahoma driver license as a new resident; Service Oklahoma's current transfer page does not publish a separate numeric driver-license grace period.

For a factory-built motorhome, bring the out-of-state title, Form 701-6, a valid driver license, proof of Oklahoma insurance, and the vehicle. A travel trailer also needs its own Oklahoma title and registration, including a pop-up tent trailer. Coordinate with the lienholder before the visit when it controls either ownership record.

Plan for the VIN and odometer check on an out-of-state motorhome and a VIN check on an out-of-state travel trailer before Oklahoma releases the title. Oklahoma does not require emissions testing for registration. A rebuilt-salvage unit needs its separate rebuilt review; a bus or truck whose out-of-state title does not already show motorhome status needs classification review rather than the ordinary checklist.

Register a self-propelled motorhome separately from every towed car or trailer. A same-owner move is exempt from motor-vehicle excise tax when the titled unit was owned and registered in the former state for at least 60 days. If the unit was acquired more recently, bring its purchase and prior-tax records for Service Oklahoma to calculate any sales, use, and excise tax and reciprocal credit.
