  1. 1. Check when the application becomes due

    Title and register the motorhome within 30 days after becoming an Oregon resident, and transfer the driver license within that period if you will drive. Start with the lender when it controls the out-of-state title because Oregon needs the ownership record to issue its title.

  2. 2. Prepare the correct ownership record

    Submit the original out-of-state title or other accepted ownership document, prior-owner releases, and required lien releases with the Oregon title application. Oregon classifies a motorhome as a motorized vehicle with permanent sleeping and cooking facilities that meets an accepted RV construction standard.

  3. 3. Complete identification and inspection

    Complete the VIN inspection required for an out-of-state title. A qualifying motorhome also needs DEQ compliance when kept in a covered Portland or Medford testing area: Portland generally tests covered 1975-and-newer fuel-powered motorhomes, while Medford generally uses a 20-model-year window; diesel weight and other exemptions still apply.

  4. 4. Register the correct vehicle class

    Register the motorhome for the applicable two-year, length-based period and obtain motorhome plates. A camper that is permanently attached to a motorized vehicle is treated as a motorhome, while a travel trailer, park-model RV, or towed car keeps its own title and registration treatment.
