  1. 1. Check when the application becomes due

    Get the Washington driver license and complete the motorhome registration within 30 days after moving. Start earlier when a lender must send the out-of-state title or when the motorhome lacks a usable scale weight.

  2. 2. Prepare the correct ownership record

    Use the out-of-state ownership document and its scale weight. If no weight appears, Washington accepts a Certificate of Fact, factory invoice, or certified scale slip; a lender-held title can be faxed to the licensing office after you obtain its fax number.

  3. 3. Complete identification and inspection

    A motorhome needs a Washington State Patrol inspection when it is homemade, assembled from a conversion kit outside a licensed manufacturer, or its ownership document omits the model year or make. Washington's recurring emission-check program ended statewide in 2020.

  4. 4. Register the correct vehicle class

    Register the motorhome on its own record and keep any camper, travel trailer, or towed vehicle on the separate record Washington assigns to it. A truck-mounted camper does not become part of the truck title merely because it is permanently attached.
