Move a Boat and Trailer to Nevada

Title and number a power-driven vessel before operating it once Nevada is its principal state of operation. The exception for a vessel properly registered in another state and used on Nevada waters for no more than 90 consecutive days is not an indefinite Nevada-resident registration path. Register the road trailer through DMV within 30 days of residency.

Take the properly endorsed out-of-state certificate of ownership to a Department of Wildlife office with the Social Security number, fees, and sales-tax proof when applicable. An out-of-state titled-watercraft transaction is completed in person, and a notarized vessel-specific power of attorney is required when someone else acts for the owner.

Ask the selected Wildlife office whether it can perform the watercraft inspection. Inspection is required when the boat comes from a non-title state without the original manufacturer statement, and when the HIN on that statement is handwritten; other out-of-state title transactions may also require inspection. Nevada assigns a state HIN when a covered vessel has no compliant builder number.

Number and register a power-driven vessel and carry its current certificate while operating. Nonmotorized vessels are generally exempt from boat registration, but that does not remove the separate aquatic-invasive-species rule. Title and register the highway trailer separately through Nevada DMV.
