Move an RV or Motorhome to Missouri

Apply for the Missouri title within 30 days after becoming a resident. Complete the driver-license transfer as soon as residency begins and arrange any required inspection early enough that its certificate remains inside the 60-day filing window.

Use Form 108 and the original out-of-state title. When a lienholder will not release the title, use Form 5834 with its notarized refusal and one of Missouri's accepted title-copy or electronic-title records. Keep the motorhome's ownership record separate from every towed car or trailer.

Every out-of-state motor vehicle needs the Missouri VIN and odometer check, and a safety inspection satisfies that identity step. A separate current safety inspection is required unless an exemption applies; emissions testing can also apply in St. Louis City and Jefferson, St. Charles, and St. Louis counties, subject to the program's vehicle exemptions.

Bring current insurance, the VIN and odometer inspection, applicable safety and emissions results, and a paid personal property tax receipt or statement of non-assessment. Prior ownership and operation outside Missouri for at least 90 days generally avoids additional sales tax; shorter ownership can require the tax difference.
