American Credit Acceptance title transfer: move your financed car to another state
American Credit Acceptance: send the State Change Request to TitlesOutBound@ACAcceptance.com (preferred) or fax 866-740-0571. Some states differ. Then match these steps to your new state's title rule below and build the request before the title moves.
Start with American Credit Acceptance's process
The destination state controls registration and still decides what document it can use and where it must go. The lender handles the title it holds, and the two paths need to meet before the state can finish the transfer.
- 01Start here
Get the destination state's State Change Request form from its motor vehicle office or website, complete it, and check the published origin and destination exceptions before sending it.
- 02Use the approved channel
Send the State Change Request to American Credit Acceptance by email to TitlesOutBound@ACAcceptance.com (its preferred method), by fax to 866-740-0571, or by mail to Titles Department, American Credit Acceptance, LLC, 961 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29302. Missouri, New York, Kansas, and customer-held title states follow special paths.
- 03Plan for the handoff
American Credit Acceptance says preparing and sending the title can take up to three weeks. Confirm destination receipt if the office has not contacted you by then.
NewState Drive is independent and is not affiliated with or endorsed by American Credit Acceptance. Confirm instructions inside your lender account before sending sensitive information.
After you build the request notes and handoff checklist below, send the request through the lender's approved channel. You remain in control of every lender and agency submission. Optional paid help prepares the request and destination packet and handles general follow-up, and you still handle account sign-in, authorization, signatures, payments, inspections, and in-person visits.

- I still owe on it and I'm moving
- I paid it off and the title or lien release hasn't come
We have not found a published payoff-to-title timeline from American Credit Acceptance. Check what your state requires of lenders after payoff, if it sets a deadline.

Where is the car moving?
Some states want an original title, others accept a copy, lien letter, or registration-only path, and some require the local office to start the request. We will combine American Credit Acceptance's move path with the destination state's title rule. No VIN or account number is collected.
Every step above stays free.
If the lender is slow, or the new state keeps rejecting the request
- Supported follow-up through the handoff milestones
- Tracking of title delivery and the state's acknowledgement
- A private case with the final proof check
- You step in for account sign-in, authorizations, signatures, payments, inspections and in-person visits
Keep the lender request and receipt together
Add the two states to keep the request, lender send status, destination receipt, and final proof together.
Keep your place and return later
Track your progress, dates, title requests, and receipts to keep. We will email a private return link.
