Build the exact request

Where is the car moving?

We will combine General Electric Credit Union's move path with the destination state's title rule. No VIN or account number is collected.

What the lender says

Start with General Electric Credit Union's process

The destination state still decides what document it can use and where it must go.

  1. 01Start here

Open General Electric Credit Union's State-to-State Change request from its Title Services page. The verified request requires the vehicle VIN, a debit or credit card, and the member's five-digit ZIP code.

  2. 02Use the approved channel

Submit the request through GECU's official online form. GECU charges $50, then sends the title on file directly to the destination DMV or title agency; it will not send the title to the member.

  3. 03Plan for the handoff

GECU says to allow four to six weeks for the state-to-state change and sends an email when it is complete. Start before the destination deadline and confirm the intended agency address.

NewState Drive is independent and is not affiliated with or endorsed by General Electric Credit Union. Confirm instructions inside yourlender account before sending sensitive information.

Why both sides matter

A lender request is only useful if the new state can use it

Some states want an original title. Others accept a copy, lien letter, or registration-only path. Some require the local office to start the request. The builder checks the destination first.

Keep the lender request and receipt together

Add the two states to keep the request, lender send status, destination receipt, and final proof together.

Keep your place and return later

Track your progress, dates, title requests, and receipts to keep. We will email a private return link.

Transaction details

Use these fields when the vehicle was bought, sold, gifted, inherited, rejected, or delayed.

We use your email for the saved route. The two checkboxes are optional.

General Electric Credit Union move questions

How do I contact General Electric Credit Union about an out-of-state title transfer?
Submit the request through GECU's official online form. GECU charges $50, then sends the title on file directly to the destination DMV or title agency; it will not send the title to the member.
Will General Electric Credit Union register the car in the new state?
The destination motor vehicle agency controls registration. The lender or lessor handles the title or ownership document it holds. The two paths need to meet before the state can finish the transfer.
Can NewState Drive send the request for me?
Use the request notes and handoff checklist, then send the request through the lender's approved channel. You remain in control of every lender and agency submission.
Should I enter my VIN or account number here?
No. Add sensitive identifiers only inside the lender's own secure account, form, fax, mail, or other approved channel.
