Paid off your Ford Credit loan? Getting the lien release and title
In paper-title states, Ford Credit says it mails the title to you or your designee within 10 days of the payoff date, or mails a lien release document within 10 days if you already hold the paper title. In electronic-title states it releases the lien within 10 days of payoff and the motor vehicle agency holding the title then mails a paper title, which it says can take upwards of 6 weeks; some states do not send a paper title automatically, so you may have to ask your motor vehicle agency (fees may apply). If a dealership, financial institution, or insurance company paid off the account, the title or lien release goes to that party.
How to ask Ford Credit for the release or title
Keep the payoff confirmation and the date the final payment cleared.
Call Ford Credit customer service at 800-727-7000 and give the vehicle year, make and model, VIN, your full name, current address and phone number, any other names on the account, and the account number if you have it, to request a lien release letter. Ford Credit's lien release letter FAQ describes a phone request only.
