Everything Honda Financial Services says about payoff

Honda Financial Services says that for a retail (loan) account it issues a lien release once the vehicle is paid off, and that the lien release letter confirms the account is paid in full and that Honda Financial Services no longer has a security interest in the vehicle. It says the average time to receive the lien release is 2-3 weeks, depending on the state and how the title is held, and that it mails the release once it verifies that your final payment has cleared. If you want a lien-free title, Honda says to give the lien release letter to your local state agency, for example the Department of Motor Vehicles, which will help you get one. Honda asks you to make sure it has your current address on file, which you can see by logging in and viewing Finance Account Details. This page covers a paid-off retail (loan) account only.

Use Honda Financial Services' Customer Service contact page: choose Honda Auto and the state where the account was originally acquired to reach a representative. Honda asks you to confirm your current address on file so the lien release reaches you.

If it never arrived: Honda says Customer Service can in most circumstances provide a duplicate lien release, depending on the year and model of the vehicle. If your account has been paid in full for more than 90 days, Honda says you can also get a duplicate title or lien release online at Vehicle Title My Way, where you give borrower information (name, address and so on), the account number, the VIN and the titling state. Honda says that service covers accounts paid off on or after 2003 and up to 7 years old, and that a processing fee may be charged.
