Paid off your Ally Auto loan? Getting the lien release and title
Ally says that once it has finished processing your final payment under your state's requirements, it mails the title or lien release, or releases the lien directly with the state when the state has an electronic title program and your record is held electronically. Ally lists 20 states where it can do that: Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Idaho, Iowa, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Nebraska, Nevada, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, South Dakota, Texas, Virginia and Wisconsin. Its title tracker page says the title or lien release goes to the primary account holder's address, the state DMV, or as directed by title instructions you include with the final payment.
How to ask Ally Auto for the release or title
If nothing arrived, see the next step below.

If it never arrived: Contact Ally with your VIN, year/make/model, the state where the vehicle is titled, and the name on the title. Ally says it can provide a letter confirming that its lien has been released. For a duplicate title, Ally says to contact your state's motor vehicle department.
